Materials :: Polyethylene

Scientific name:

High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (HMWPE)
Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)

Available in: Sheet, Rod.
Types:

HDPE - Available in sheet & rod. White & black colours
HMWPE - Available in white sheet only. Molecular weight +/- 500,000 g/mol
UHMWPE - Available in sheet & rod; white only. Molecular weight + 7,000,000 g/mol
UHMWPE Static Reduced - Available in black sheet & rod only. Molecular weight + 7,000,000 g/mol
UHMWPE ULTRA - Special formulation with even better sliding properties. Available in green sheet & rod only. Molecular weight + 7,000,000 g/mol
UHMWPE PLUS - Special grade with inorganic fillers to improve rigidity, dimensional stability & abrasion resistance. Available in blue sheet only. Molecular weight
+ 8,000,000 g/mol

General properties:

• Excellent abrasion resistance - better than carbon steel
• Very low co-efficient of friction; no lubrication required
• Very high surface release properties
• Operating temperature ranges of -260°C to 90°C for UHMWPE, -100°C to 80°C for HMWPE and -50°C to 80°C for HDPE
• High chemical resistance, resists corrosion
• Very good damping properties
• Weatherproof - suitable for outdoor applications
• Good electrical & dielectric properties
• Suitable for food contact

Applications: Liners which promote flow & resist abrasion
Conveyor components subject to high wear & requiring low friction or self-lubrication
Parts subject to high impact stress
Food processing components
Chopping boards
Freezer components
Medical & pharmaceutical components
Pumps & filter components
